Gruz likes three things...

...woman, cheese, and something else that doesn't seem as important right now. To tell the truth, I just thought it would be cool to write a story that began and ended with "[Main character] likes three things..." and then list the three things. And then, when I tried to come up with something, the first thing that came to mind was "Gruz likes three things, women, cheese, and..." then I couldn't think of anything else. Video games? Crackers? Neckties? Those are certainly things that I like, but are they what Gruz likes?

This brought me to a whole new round of thoughts. Who is Gruz? Where does he live? When does he live? What year is it there? Is he outdoorsy? Who gave him the name Gruz? Hopefully it's a nickname. In my mind I picture Gruz as a sensitive neanderthal sort who likes horses. Weird. I don't think myself as any of those things. Apparently he doesn't like horses in the same way as women and cheese, but that was just what came to mind. Now I need to get into Gruz' mind.

Let's set that aside for a moment. Hello. My name is Michael. I usually go by Mike. Family will sometimes call me Mikey, but that's mostly my wife, Aubrey, and my oldest niece. I'm 26, working tech support at a company that makes vehicle monitoring devices, and pursuing a Computer Science degree at a depressingly slow rate. I started to enjoy writing when I started college and found out that the rules are writing weren't nearly so rigid as I once believed them to be. I've never been that big on creative writing, but I always thought a lot about writing a novel. Would it be fun? Hard? Tedious  A "broadening of horizons" kind of activity? Probably all of those.

But what to write about? They say you should write what you know. So what are the things I know most about? I'll be getting into that in later posts, I guess. No fanfic, I can tell you that much. I'm tempted to just write, "That crap sucks." but instead I'll say that I am ideologically opposed to it. I'm sorry to all the fanfic writers out there, I'm sure some of it is very, very good. I'm not saying I'm better than fanfic writers. It's just not ever been my thing. I want the official story or no story. It's a personality thing.

At any rate, if you want to write, you must write. This is my new writing place. No idea how this will work out. If you stumble upon this blog, feel free to comment or subscribe or whatever. Feedback is surely welcome. This is the end of the introduction story. After all, Gruz likes three things, women, cheese, and something else that doesn't seem as important right now.
